A Serious Question Aimed At Trump Supporters

As many of you have probably guessed at this point, I am no fan of donald trump (I know, I know ... I mask it well). I think he is unqualified in that he lacks the temperament and diplomatic skills necessary for the job. I think he is corrupt, as evidenced by his behavior ... after all, the Secret Service has been lining his pockets since he took office, paying exorbitant rents at Trump Tower and Mar-A-Lago, and he has been using his office to "suggest" that visiting dignitaries stay at his hotel. He is intellectually incurious. He is ignorant of the way government actually works (although, to be fair, he is probably in the best place in the world to learn this).

I will give him this much: he ran as an outsider, and he has been living up to this since day one. Neither the Republicans nor the Democrats are able to figure out where he's coming from, where he's going, or what he is likely to do at any given moment¹. Establishment politics is taking a beating in the trump era, and there are many (myself included) who don't necessarily see this is a bad thing.

However, today's column is not another collection of anti-trump invective and vitriol. My goal here today is actually, on the surface, quite simple (you'll understand why I say "on the surface" in a moment). I would simply like an answer to one question.

On the campaign trail in South Carolina, trump told people that "We're going to win so much. You're going to get tired of winning." My question to trump supporters is this:

What did he mean by that? More precisely, what does "winning" mean to you?

I am not trying to be facetious here, nor am I trying to paint trump supporters as ignorant morons. I genuinely want to know what is going on in the minds of trump supporters, and to try to understand the appeal.

Look, I get that this blog does not have a huge contingent of trumpeters among its readership, which is where y'all come in. I'm sure that you know at least one person who is a trump fan, so please forward this to them. Responses can be sent to survey@blowhardpundit.com. I will not publicly identify any individual unless I receive explicit authorization to do so from that person; I will only be reporting on the results and/or trends I discover.

Please share this with as many people as possible so I can get the largest possible sample size. I am going to keep this open until September 30, and I will publish my findings in October.

¹This actually is not that hard to figure out. Everything the guy does is with one goal in mind: the further enrichment of donald trump. Whether it is burnishing his brand or simply getting more money, his only goal is "MORE MORE MORE for ME ME ME".
